On July 4th, the 2025 China (Qingdao) - ASEAN Economic and Trade Cooperation & People-to-People Exchange Event, with the theme of "Blue Partnership for a Win-Win Future", was held at Qingdao Haitian Center.

Sponsored by the China-ASEAN Center and the Qingdao Municipal Government, the event was attended by more than 300 guests from China, various ASEAN countries and relevant international organizations. Eleven international students from our university, hailing from ASEAN countries such as Indonesia, Laos, Thailand and Cambodia, took part in the event.

During the event, the international students experienced the intangible cultural heritage (ICH) of tie-dye art at the "Impression ASEAN · Southeast Asian Style Street".

Teachers gave an in-depth yet accessible explanation of tie-dye’s historical origins, craftsmanship principles and modern innovative applications. They also demonstrated the use of tie-dye tools and the operation process, guiding the students step by step from fabric folding and binding to dyeing techniques. Through this artistic practice, the students explored culture and felt the unique charm of Chinese culture.

Subsequently, the students went to the "Yunshang Haitian"– Qingdao's iconic high-altitude observation building – Urban Observation Hall and overlooked Qingdao from a height of 369 meters. THANU VETHANEE (Yang Jiaxin), a student from Thailand, said, "This is the first time I’ve seen Qingdao from such a high perspective, and the beautiful coastline and urban scenery are all in full view." PHOUTTHAVONG PHONESAMAY (Fen Mei) from Laos stated that she usually enjoys photography and shares her life as an international student on social media platforms to help more friends understand China.

"Friendship forged with sincerity endures long." The university encourages international students to actively participate in people-to-people exchange activities, aiming to enhance in-depth interaction between Chinese and foreign youth groups, inherit the friendly concept of "harmony and coexistence", and jointly build a future of regional friendship with the power of youth.
