The College of International Exchange Holds the "Chinese Rhythm on Fingertips and Strings, Oriental Charm in Teacups" Activity
On the afternoon of August 28, the College of International Exchange held the themed activity "Chinese Rhythm on Fingertips and Strings, Oriental Charm in Teacups" at Chattingxiang Teahouse. Fourteen international students from six countries including Pakistan, Indonesia, Nepal, Morocco, and Chad participated in the activity. They touched the strings with their fingertips and tasted tea from teacups. Amid the interweaving of melodious Guqin music and the delicate fragrance of tea, they felt the elegant core of traditional Chinese culture and initiated a cross-border cultural dialogue.
In the tea art experience session, a tea artist guided the international students to experience the entire process of tea art hand in hand: from the careful preparation of warming and cleaning the teacups, to controlling the rhythm of tea leaves unfurling during tea awakening, then to mastering the water flow when brewing tea, and finally to the etiquette standards for serving and tasting tea. The students carefully imitated every movement and immersed themselves in the Oriental elegance of tea art. In the Guqin experience session, a professional Guqin player performed classic Guqin pieces on site, and the ethereal melody deeply attracted the international students. Later, the Guqin player guided the students in playing simple segments. RASSEMBAYE BENJAMIN from Chad said, "This is my first time touching a Guqin. I was particularly surprised when I made a sound. The melody of the Guqin is very beautiful, a unique beauty of Chinese culture."
This activity took tea and Guqin as links, enabling international students to have close contact with traditional Chinese culture. It allowed them to immerse themselves in the experience of traditional Chinese tea art and Guqin, understand the spiritual core of Chinese culture behind "a cup of tea" and "a piece of music", thereby enhancing their understanding and recognition of China and building a bridge of cross-border cultural understanding.
The College of International Exchange attaches great importance to the education of international students on China's national conditions and culture. It tells Chinese stories well and spreads Chinese voices to international students, helping them feel the charm of China's excellent traditional culture and become friendly envoys of cross-cultural communication.
