Sri Lanka Alumni Association Established and 70th Anniversary Flag Relayed

On August 2, 2021, representatives of Sri Lanka alumni of Shandong University of Science and Technology held an alumni association inauguration ceremony, and the passing of the university flag to celebrate the 70th anniversary of university in Ambelangod district, the southern province of Sri Lanka.

Since 2010, the university has been recruiting Sri Lankan students who are majored in mechatronic engineering and telecommunications engineering taught by English, and has trained 159 students from the country who are respectively graduated at the undergraduate and postgraduate degree by 2021. At the 70th anniversary of Shandong University of Science and Technology, local alumni still pay attention to the information of the university celebration enthusiastically through the Internet, send good wishes to each other, and actively prepare for the formal establishment of the alumni association, although facing the severe situation of the intensification ofCOVID-19 epidemic in Sri Lanka. The local alumni elect THAVARAJAH CHANTHURU, an alumnus of the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering of the class of 2017, as the president of the alumni association. KURUPPU ARACHCHIGE AMILA NUWAN, an alumnus of the School of Electronic and Information Engineering, majoring in Communication Engineering, Class of 2017, was elected as the Secretary General of the Alumni Association.

At the ceremony ofuniversity flag passing, AMILA, the secretary general of the alumni association, led the alumni association representatives to send a fond message to the University: “The Sri Lanka Alumni wish their alma mater happy 70thanniversaryand wish the university to continue and create further glory!”
