Experience China: Our Stories against the Pandemic—Essay Competition for CSC Students

Since the outbreak of COVID-19, many CSC students have experienced the prevention and control measures of China and witnessed the joint efforts of the Chinese government and people against the pandemic. On May 17, the letter by Chinese President Xi Jinping in reply to all the Pakistani students studying in Beijing University of Science and Technology was publicized and aroused heated discussion and active response among both the teachers and the international students. China Scholarship Council will hold an essay competition with the theme of "Experience China: Our Stories against the Pandemic". We encourage all CSC students to actively participate in the competition.

3. Requirements:

  1) Content selection

    1.1 Our stories against the Pandemic. During the outbreak, the international students joined in the battle against the pandemic, did what they can do to support the prevention and control work. We hope to learn your touching stories.

    1.2 China under the Pandemic. During the outbreak, whether you stayed in China or went back to your own country, you were for sure quite concerned about the situation in China and kept in touch with your teachers and classmates. You are invited to share your feelings or thought about China under the pandemic.

    1.3 Study under the Pandemic. Because of the pandemic, we stayed home quarantined for quite a while. How did you spend the time?  How did you keep on your study? How did your university and teachers help you? How was your study and what you have learned from it? You are invited to share your experiences and insights of studying under the pandemic.

    1.4 Reflections on global pandemic. What can we, the young international students, do to fight against the pandemic? What can other countries learn from China against pandemic? How can we unite more people to be more connected and contributive to building a community of shared future for mankind?

  2) Type of Literature: any type but poetry

  3) Language: Written in Chinese

  4) Format: The headline should be in simplified Song typeface and size in minus two; the text should be in Imitation Song and size in three.

  5) The length should be within 3000 characters.

  6) Please fill in the Form of Author’s Introduction and submit your photo. Illustrated pictures can also be attached. All photos should be original and clear and in JPG format within 2M.

4. Please send your essay, the Form of Author’s Introduction and photo to skd996218@sdust.edu.cn with the title of “CSC Essay Competition + Your Name”.

5. Deadline: BJT 8:00am June 10, 2020.

6. Rewards: All submitted essays will be reviewed by a professional panel. Outstanding essays will be published as a book, and some of them will be published in China Scholars Abroad. Every participant will receive a certificate.
