Introduction

Bin Yan, Ph. D and associate professor, received his Ph. D degree from Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) in 2007. He is also a visiting scholar to Deakin University, Australia from 2015 to 2016. His research and teaching interests include signal processing in wireless communication, multimedia signal processing (audio, image and video), and security issues in multimedia communication.
Dr. Yan is PI (principal investigator) of several research projects: (1) National natural science foundation of China (NSFC: 61272432) ; (2) Qingdao science and technology development plan (No. 12-1-4-6-(10)-jch); (3) Natural science foundation of Shandong Province (ZR2014JL044); (4) National Statistical Science Research Project (Key project) (From National Bureau of Statistics): 2015LZ59; (5) Key project of statistical project of Shandong Province. (KT15104). He is also key investigator in some other projects, including natural science foundation of Shandong province under grant number ZR2011FM018. Dr Yan is a member of IEEE. He is an invited reviewer for several international journals, including IEEE Trans. on Information Forensic and Security, Multimedia Tools and Applications, IEEE Signal processing Letter, IEEE Access, and Information Security Journal: A Global Perspective, etc. He also serves as editor and reviewer for several international conferences, including Smart IT 2009, PCSPA09, PCSPA10 and CSS2015.
Dr. Yan has taught several all-English courses for foreign students in the last 5 years, including “principle of communication”, “information theory and coding”, “random signal analysis”, “signals and systems” and “encryption and network security”. He also taught bilingual course “random signal analysis” for undergraduate students. Prof. Yan taught “modern communication theory”, “signal detection and estimation”, “matrix theory” for postgraduate students. He is the recipient of a scientific award from Qingdao economic and technical development zone. In 2011, he is elected as one of the “good teachers in my heart” by postgraduate students; one of the annual “Unforgettable and Respectful Teachers” award, elected by graduating students in Shandong University of Science and Technology. He is also the recipient of “Excellent teacher (gardener)” in 2009.
