Xupeng Fang was born in Shandong Province, China, in 1971. He received the B.S. and M.S. degrees from the Shandong University of Science and Technology of China, Qingdao, in 1994 and in 1997, respectively, majored in industry automation, electrical drive and its automation, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree from the Zhejiang University of China, Hangzhou, in 2005, in electrical engineering. He joined the Shandong University of Science and Technology, Qingdao, China, in 1997 and now he is an Associate Professor and master tutor in the College of Electrical Engineering and Automation. He was a visiting scholar in the Power electronics and Motor drive center of Michigan State University, U.S.A from March, 2013 to March, 2014.
Dr. Fang has published over 50 papers in IEEE Transactions, IEEE conference proceedings and other journals, wherein 30 papers have been indexed by SCI or EI database. He held 8 patents, and has applied for 6 invention patents that in the examination stage. And he has published a textbook of Power electronics as the editor-in-chief.
He has hosted or participated in 15 projects that include NSFC, NSF of Shandong province, China Postdoctoral Science Foundation, international cooperation project, and other horizontal projects.
Dr. Fang is a senior member of China Electrotechnical Society Power Electronics Society and a member of International Applied Superconductivity and Electromagnetics Association（ASEMA）, he is also an invited reviewer of IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems, IEEE Transactions on Transportation Electrification, Journal of Power Electronics, the Transactions of China Electrotechnical Society and other Chinese journals.
His research interests include Z-source converter and its applications, utility applications of power electronics such as active filters and FACTs devices, renewable resources generation.
The majors of the students Dr. Fang can guide include power electronics and power drives, power system and its automation, electrical engineering, and control theory and control engineering.
