The final of the 15th SDUST Men’s Football Championship was held on the afternoon of April 14th in the Fengyu Field. With a 4-1 win over the college of Electrical Engineering and Automation in that final game, and conceding only 3 goals over 7 games, the College of International Exchange sealed the victory and won the championship.
As a highly-rated team, the College of Electric Engineering and Automation gave a very strong defense. Their first goal came in the 20th minute of the first half. Although the international students had the advantages of speed and physique, a lack of strategy and impatience prevented them from getting their shots on target. The College of Electrical Engineering and Automation made a string of saves,leading 1-0 throughout the first half.
The College of International Exchange made a substitution in the second half, and this immediately changed the trajectory of the game. Abdullah made his debut with confidence and an outstanding technique. He successfully dodged two opponent full backs and got into the penalty area, and then scored a brilliant opening goal at the 6 minute mark, finally breaking the pitch balance. Team members of the International team were soon cheered up by the scoring of the goal and were eager to have another round of attack. In the last 20 minutes of the second half, the international students scored three goals in a row, and lead with a 4-1 win all the way to the end of the match.
For the first time in history, the College of International Exchange won the university’s men’s football championship . The diversity of the International students brings a breath of fresh air to the football pitch; their sportsmanship and great passion for football helps to promote friendship with the Chinese students. /span>
