On November 28, Wu Hao of the Office of International Exchange and foreign students were invited to attend the first Chinese-foreign New Year's Gala hosted by Tai'an TV Station. The Gala aims to celebrate the 40th anniversary of People's Republic of China's reform and opening-up, respond to policies of the Belt & Road Initiative, and express gratitude to the international friends for their contribution to China's development and progress, and show the latest achievements Shandong Province has made with traditional drivers being replaced by new ones. Also participated in the event were foreign guests, students from Russia, the United States, France, Germany, India, Japan, Canada, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Togo, Mongolia, Sri Lanka, the Republic of Congo, Tanzania, Haiti, Ghana, and universities in Shandong Province as well.
At the beginning, Li Lei, director of Tai'an TV, and other members of the TV station warmly welcomed the troupe as well as the teachers and students from the College of International Exchange, Shandong University of Science and Technology. Then, foreign students from our University, Shandong Architectural University, Shandong Agricultural University, Yantai University and other universities came to the stage to perform their art, showing a rich and colorful Chinese and foreign culture. Different and splendid forms of performance showed the diversity of world culture. Among them, “Azalea”, sung by Molisa of our school, was a stunning performance. “Tribute to Louis Cha and Stan Lee” by Timothee, Yongcai and Rajitha, as the ending finale, demonstrated the friendly exchange and mutual understanding of Chinese and Western cultures. It not only reflected the love of foreign students for China and its culture, but also the image of our country as a major country which values tolerance and harmony. The show went on with a lively atmosphere. Finally, all the actors and guests presented the song “Auld Lang Syne” and raised glasses together to wish China a better future.
The successful night show raises the enthusiasm of overseas students in SDUST to love China and its culture. It also further strengthens the connection between our university and other universities, expands the platform for international exchange and cooperation, and lays a solid foundation for the future internationalization and development of our university.
